SMS configuration needs to be done when the user wants to connect SMS-sending software to the application to send automated alert messages.

SMS configuration can be done in an Admin account, resellers as well as school users can inherit the configuration. SMS is one of the most effective channels for sending alerts.

Before getting started #

You need to purchase a third-party SMS API.

When you purchase an SMS service, your service provider will provide you with a gateway URL which will be used for configuring the SMS service on the application.

To get started #

  • Login to your account.
  • Go to  Settings > General >Admin.
    • Double-click on the account for which you want to configure SMS.
      • Navigate to SMS.

To Configure SMS #

      • Select the Gateway Type, either GET or POST.

        • GET method is used when data is requested from a specified resource. To send a GET request, a client needs to specify the URL of the resource it wants to retrieve. Your SMS service provider would be providing the details which you will have to enter in the mentioned field.
            • In SMS Gateway URL, you will have to enter the URL in the text box. This URL will be provided by your SMS service provider.
            • Refer to the Example to check the kind of URL you will receive.
            • Variable parameters are defined where the software gets the mobile number you have entered and the message alerts will be generated.
        • POST method is used to send data to a server to create/update a resource. The data sent to the server with POST is stored in the request body of the HTTP request.

            • Select Gateway Vendor from dropdown menu and enter the details in the fields mentioned when you select the vendor.
  • Click on the Save 💾 icon.
