A vehicle that doesn’t update in real-time on the tracking platform may be experiencing a serious problem that needs to be fixed.
Below is a list of possible reasons for a vehicle not updating and their troubleshooting steps:
Poor internet connection #
If the vehicle is in a location with weak cellular or GPS signal, it might not be able to transmit information to the live tracking screen.
Check the Internet connection with the help of an SMS command.
For SMS commands, contact the device manufacturer
If there is high network congestion or heavy data traffic in the area, it may slow down the transmission of data from the tracking device.
In such cases, please wait till the network coverage gets better.
Delay in updating the data #
The tracking platform may also experience a problem getting the data as a result of which the vehicle’s data does not update on the live tracking screen.
To verify #
- Login to your account.
- Click on Report > Logs > System log
- Search for the vehicle number in the object selection option
Select the vehicle and click on Apply

Data actual time refers to the time when the device generates or records the data. Data received time refers to the data received on the tracking platform.
History data refers to records of the device’s past locations and movements.
Please Note: History data are not updated on the live tracking screen.
- Click on the Status icon to find the reason behind the issue.
Please email support@bongoiot.com if your data updates match your time zone, there is no past data, and data status appears green in colour.
Please Note – If GPS device data is updating in the system log and not on the live tracking screen then please contact support@bongoiot.com
GPS device issue #
There may be a problem with the specific GPS device if another one of the same model is updating properly on the tracking screen.
You can verify the same by following the above steps for different vehicles.
If the data in the system log is not updating, there may be an issue with the device. You must verify the same from the device end.
Malfunctioning tracking device #
If all the above settings fail, the problem can be a broken tracking device. If the device isn’t working properly, check it out and replace it.
